Services

MNFPC brings to volunteer fire relief association trustees what the corporate world has had for years:

  • Help with fiduciary concerns
  • Access to legal advice when updating bylaws
  • “Secretarial services” to incorporate state law changes and to file documents with the Office of the State Auditor

MNFPC understands the unique perfect storm of changing statutes (nonprofit, pension, and open meeting), State Auditor requirements, and municipal negotiations trustees have to navigate.

In response, MNFPC continues to work with our attorneys to create bylaws that allow efficient and consistent plan administration, even through volunteer trustee turnover. Model bylaws, with more than 300 options, allow customization to fit the unique needs of each relief association, including:

  • Bylaws in compliance with current Minnesota statutes
  • Articles of Incorporation
  • Administrative policy and procedures
  • Factsheets that answer common operational questions
  • Membership applications and pension benefit forms

MNFPC’s consortium approach allows us to offer services and benefits that fire reliefs would find financially difficult doing on their own.  After each legislative session we work with our legal team to incorporate new laws and trustee ideas into the model documents.  MNFPC also provides these ongoing supportive services to subscribing associations:

  • Administration of bylaw amendment filings with the State Auditor
  • E-mail and telephone support for bylaw and operational questions
  • Bylaw continuing education for new and experienced trustees
  • Client-only secured page on MNFPC’s website
